Obelisk is an L&D consulting organization, active in guiding and empowering organizations, teams and employees in their change and development process.

We believe that strong people make strong organizations, that a person-centered approach is necessary and that development processes of people, teams and organizations are connected. Therefore, we choose to strengthen and connect individuals and organization through the following services:

  • We develop customized learning programs for companies and we guide organizations through various challenges that are "people-related" such as team development, leadership development and L&D policies.
  • One can often not do without the other, so we strongly believe in a holistic approach where we focus on both the counseling and the context around it.

We are critical and pragmatic, consider it important to work with scientifically based models (both in terms of soft skill frameworks and in terms of learning transfer), and assume a positive view of people.

The colleague we are looking for

For this vacancy we are looking for a colleague to take on the role of trainer - supervisor. In this role you will enter into conversation with clients and translate their questions into the design of a strongly developed learning trajectory. You also carry out these assignments yourself and supervise learning programs in groups around various themes: customer focus, giving and receiving feedback, assertiveness and open communication, and stakeholder management. Experience with (team) coaching and leadership is a plus, but not a requirement.

A look at a typical work week:

  • On Monday you start preparing for a learning course on assertive communication. You discuss with a colleague the plan of approach and look for the most appropriate working forms so that the objective of the workshop is maximally assured. You prepare the presentation and necessary training materials. In the afternoon you lead an intervision of an ongoing training program for university managers.
  • Tuesday you drive to Hasselt where you will give a full day of training on dealing with conflicts. On the way home you call in via MS Teams for the scrum (team meeting) where new requests for assignments are discussed.
  • Wednesday you update your emails and have some intakes for leadership training. In the afternoon, you have a 121 with your team leader and attend an online webinar on evidence-based training.
  • Thursday you will prepare two days of training in coaching skills for store managers for a strong player in retail. You prepare a program, choose the appropriate forms of work and coordinate with your colleagues for a second opinion if you have some doubts. In the afternoon you have a live workshop "interview techniques for business analysts" for a well-known IT consulting company. In the evening, you then head to the office in Haasrode for the monthly organizational meeting (Town Hall Obelisk). The figures of the first quarter are shared as well as important strategic topics. Successes are celebrated and the formal part is followed by a barbecue and drinks with colleagues.
  • On Friday, day one of a total of two training days on assertiveness is scheduled. You leave for Brussels on time to work with a group of twelve employees. You encourage self-reflection, adapt to the process of the group and each participant, and inspire. You give an interim assignment for the second day of training. Full of energy after an intense day, you start the weekend, eager to guide the second day in the same group the week after.

Your profile

  • You preferably have a master's degree in humanities (or equivalent through experience) and have a minimum of 5 years of experience as a trainer - supervisor.
  • You are flexible: we work with different clients and people who each deserve customized guidance. In addition, some periods may be busier, others quieter.
  • You are fluent in Dutch and French and can supervise French and/or bilingual groups. Knowledge of English is a plus.
  • Authenticity, quality and collegiality come naturally to you.
  • You have experience with the topic of leadership.
  • You are readily available.

What can you expect from us?

Enjoying building the future of our customers together every day, there is of course something in return.

In addition to a competitive salary and fringe benefits (including meal vouchers, hospitalization insurance, group insurance, a company car with fuel card, a laptop, smartphone, etc.), we also like to build your future by offering development opportunities and the chance to shape your career. You will join a team of experienced trainers who work with evidence-based methods and a pragmatic approach.

You can expect the following from us:

  • Authenticity and trust: to all our employees, we are authentic and communicate with great openness and respect for everyone's own background or situation. We cooperate with each other on the basis of trust, and this manifests itself, among other things, in working independent of time and place.
  • Involvement: eagerness to contribute to your career, training and motivation within Obelisk. All your colleagues have a heart for people and there is a familiar, yet professional working atmosphere.
  • Entrepreneurship: we are not pigeonholers and want to offer you the opportunity to think along with our organization. There is room for ideas in all areas and we are the first to give innovation a place in our services.
