To achieve personal, project or organizational goals, you need the support of various stakeholders.

In this course, you will develop the knowledge and skills needed to work constructively with various stakeholders. You will learn how to communicate effectively so that you can achieve your desired objectives.

Who is this learning track for?

Employees and their managers

After this learning journey:

  • Have an understanding of who your key stakeholders are
  • Do you have the knowledge and skills to work constructively with various stakeholders.
  • Communicate more effectively to achieve desired goals.
  • Know how to engage and persuade stakeholders.
  • Are better able to achieve shared goals with a diverse group of stakeholders.

Our trainers take your organizational context into account and incorporate concrete and realistic situations into the program. Evidence-based, practice-oriented, motivating and highly customized, that typifies a learning program in soft skills by Obelisk.

Our trajectories always proceed in three phases. More info can be found in the case at UHasselt.

3 examples of our customer learning programs

Sample pathway 1: Engaging stakeholders: understanding, delegating and collaborating

Day part 1: Stakeholder mapping.

  • Position your stakeholders: opponents, promoters, grumbling people and supporters
  • Determine which stakeholders are relevant: who has an interest?
  • Stakeholder Analysis Matrix: Assess stakeholders for influence
  • Determine the needs, gains and losses of the most relevant stakeholders

Day 2: assigning tasks, giving feedback and addressing resistance

  • You can delegate these tasks to specific stakeholders
  • This is how do you delegate responsibilities effectively?
  • Ways to provide feedback when when stakeholders are not engaged or not meeting expectations
  • Dealing with resistance when stakeholders are not involved or do not fulfill their responsibilities

Big theoretical blocks? Not so. At Obelisk, practice and experience take center stage, while theory stays in the background. Our hands-on approach lets participants apply theory directly for maximum transfer.

The soft skills needed in project work, case AE

As the world becomes more complex, so do the IT landscapes in organizations. As a result, solution architects are coveted profiles in the market. Due to increasing demand for these profiles among its customers, AE decided in late 2021 to develop a training program to upskill senior developers and analysts to become solution architects.

During an initial analysis of the profile of a solution architect and what skills should go with it, it quickly became clear that not only the hard skills, but also the soft skills would be important. AE therefore decided to devote a module to this as well. Obelisk was asked to develop this. Our trainer Sander set to work with a group of 12 trainee solution architects. These architects work daily to create IT systems for their customers. They help shape strategic projects at the interface of business, technology (IT), and organizational structure.

So to bring these complex IT projects to fruition requires more than good technical knowledge. That's why the architects explored three soft skills with Obelisk during three sessions, online or on-site, over a three-month period:

  • Stakeholder management
  • Coaching skills
  • Leadership & change

The program started with an intake by an AE coach, who assessed the participants based on the three skills. The combination of theoretical tools with practical applications, led the group to surprisingly interesting outcomes. "Theoretical models came to life in this group," Obelisk's trainer explained.

Live

Resilient Coping with Change training can take place at various locations, tailored to the needs of the participants. Our primary location is our headquarters in Leuven, located at Grauwmeer 1. In addition, we offer the option of providing the training on-site at the client's premises, or at other suitable workshop or training venues nearby.

During the intake meeting, we will discuss the most appropriate location for your team. This can range from a quiet, green setting where participants can walk around during a break, to a more formal setting appropriate for a professional meeting.

Online or hybrid

Obelisk believes in the power of hybrid solutions; the combination of offline and online. Our hybrid trainings are not a "copy-paste" of classroom training. They are adapted to the new reality and our coaches retrained. The result is a full hybrid package with the best of both worlds, online and offline.

During an introductory meeting, we identify your questions, expectations and the unique context of your organization. This is how we ensure that our offer perfectly matches your needs.
Based on this first meeting, we work out a tailor-made offer, which we send to you by email or come to explain it in person. After your approval, we start designing the learning trajectory and planning the next steps, always in close consultation with you to optimally align the trajectory with your needs and goals.

Thanks to this training, I can properly engage the right stakeholders and manage their expectations. Especially the stakeholder analysis matrix was a gamechanger for me; it helped me to communicate and prioritize strategically.
